Member Spotlight - Donna Chipps

With the debut of the new LWVSC website, it seems only appropriate to give the first Member Spotlight to Donna Chipps! Donna Chipps brought LWVSC into the modern age with with her creation of our very first website and our electronic accounting system. She has provided extraordinary volunteer leadership in service to the LWV as a Board member, Webmaster, Treasurer, and President for the LWVSC. She has been a leader in all aspects of League activities including administration, voter service, advocacy and fundraising. Donna has moderated election forums, organized voter registration efforts, and conducted the elections for the California Department of Rehabilitation disabled veterans association. She has spent countless hours in recent years as the head of the Smart Voter website for LWVSC. She has been a leader in advocacy efforts for Sacramento City political reforms and the critical Sacramento County land issue. As the Executive Vice President for the LWV California she was responsible for their bi-annual convention.

Donna's volunteer activities go far beyond the LWV. For example, she has been a docent at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center, a Board member for Sacramento Children's Crisis Nurseries, a volunteer on a healthcare service mission to remote areas in Central America, and Treasurer for River City Food Bank where she introduced the "Empty Bowls" fundraiser that now raises well over $100,000 annually. Known as a traveler and goal oriented person, she has walked the famed 500-mile Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage in Spain.

Thank you, Donna!
